Picture House Film Club begins new season Oct. 4 with Stephen Witty back as host

September 2023 – Pelham, NY – The Picture House Regional Film Center (TPH) has announced that its highly-popular Film Club will kick off its fall season on Wednesday, October 4th at the Pelham theater.  TPH’s Film Club offers movie-lovers the opportunity to see upcoming films in advance of their release date. Each season includes six films, which are followed by a discussion with the critic-in-residence Stephen Witty and special guest speakers from the industry. Fall 2023 dates are October 4, 11, 18, 24, November 1 and 8. Subscriptions to Film Club are open to members of The Picture House.

“TPH Film Club is a hallmark of our organization’s mission to create a shared community experience through film,” said Clayton Bushong, Executive Director of The Picture House Regional Film Center.  “As one of our members’ most anticipated programs each year, our near sold-out series this fall will showcase advance screenings of thought-provoking films and major releases.  It is an amazing opportunity for avid movie-lovers to explore films from all different perspectives, including directors, producers, screenwriters, and actors.”

TPH is excited to welcome Stephen Witty back for a new season as Film Club Host.  Whitty was a critic at The Star-Ledger for nearly two decades. He has also written for Entertainment Weekly, The New York Daily News, Cosmopolitan, Stanford Magazine, and The Minetta Review, among many others. He has profiled some of cinema’s most influential figures including Steven Spielberg, Peter O’Toole, and Judi Dench. Whitty is also the writer of the book The Alfred Hitchcock Encyclopedia.
