Undefeated Pelham hockey wrecks rival Rye 8-2 at Playland Casino

Undefeated Pelham ice hockey took down Rye 8-2 Friday night as Pelican fans packed Rye’s home ice at Playland Casino.

After Rye scored the opening goal, Pelham was unstoppable, with five different scorers getting on the board.

Junior goalkeeper Manu Naik had 15 saves, and the Pelicans put 22 shots on goal.

Senior captains Griffin Evans and Will Crotty tallied two goals and two assists each. Sophomore Mark Sobolak and senior Charlie Zabatta scored their first varsity goals.

The Pelicans are now 6-0 and will take on Rivertown next at the Ice Hutch on Tuesday at 4:50 p.m.
