Pelham’s undefeated season ended unexpectedly at the Sport-O-Rama Friday night with a shocking 7-1 loss to Division 1 contenders Suffern.

Pelham fought hard to keep it a close game, with goalie Manu Naik saving six shots in the 1st period alone. Midway through the 2nd period, senior co-captain Will Crotty scored off an assist from senior co-captain Griffin Evans to cut the lead to a single goal. However, the goals quickly piled on in the 2nd period, as Pelham entered the 3rd down 5-1, with the game ending 7-1.

“It’s never a good look to lose that way, but we don’t want to let this get to our heads,” said senior Charlie Zabatta. “There are a lot of games left to be played, and we know we have to bounce back and not let this define our season.”

The Pelicans look to bounce back, home at the Ice Hutch in their next game against the Warhawks of West Seneka at 6 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 27.
