After becoming an Olympic gold medalist Thursday, PMHS alum Kate Douglass advanced Friday into the 200m individual medley (IM) final on Saturday.
Douglass posted a time of 2:08.59 during the semifinal round, the third fastest in her respective heat. Across both semifinal heats for the 200m IM, Douglass also posted the third fastest time, seeding her in the third lane on Saturday’s race.
During the preliminary stage, Douglass placed second in her heat with a posted time of 2:10.70, shy of Sydney Pickrem from Canada by 0.07 seconds. Between the five heats for the 200m IM, Douglass posted the fifth fastest time, short of Summer Mcintosh from Canada by 0.80 seconds.
Including Saturday’s event, the Pelham native will have competed in a total of 3 events. Douglass still has an opportunity to add a medal to her collection, as her final race is on Sunday in the women’s 4×100 medley relay.
