The Pelham Republican Party announced eight candidates across the Town Council and Manor Board of Trustees for the local elections this November 4.
This is the first election in which Manor residents will vote in November, following the approval of a referendum last fall to move the Village of Pelham Manor’s elections from March. The list of Village of Pelham Manor Board Republican candidates was provided in June, and the the list of town-wide Republican candidates was provided on Monday.
The Republican slate for the town:
- Town Supervisor: Dan McLaughlin (Incumbent)
- Town Council: Rae Syzmanski (Incumbent)
- Tax Receiver: Cathy Mazzaro (Incumbent)
- Town Clerk: Maureen Borsella
- Town Council: Cristina Chianese
The supervisor and town clerk serve for two years, while the other positions have four-year terms. Three Democrats and two Republicans sit on the town council, including the supervisor.
The Republicans running in the Village of Pelham Manor are:
- Mayor: Jennifer L. Monachino Lapey (Incumbent)
- Trustee: Timothy M. Case (Incumbent)
- Trustee: Daniel W. (D.J.) McLaughlin Jr. (Incumbent)
The Mayor and Trustee positions are for two-year terms.
In April, the Pelham Democratic Committee announced its slate of 12 candidates for positions at the town level as well as in both villages. Now that the Republican slate has been announced, there will be contested elections at the town level for five positions, including that of Town Supervisor, and in the Village of Pelham Manor, where Democrats will go up against three Republican incumbents. The town’s Republicans are not planning to contest any of four positions up for election in the Village of Pelham, three of which are being defended by incumbent Democrats, and one of which will be an open seat.
